Notifications
Know when an agent needs you or finishes, and answer right from the notification.
Sesh tells you when an agent asks for approval, finishes a turn, or stops with an error. You can answer approvals without opening anything.
Choose what notifies you
Open Settings › Notifications. Under Notify me about:
| Setting | When | Default |
|---|---|---|
| Approval requests | An agent is waiting for you to allow something | On |
| Finished turns | An agent finished and it’s your turn | On |
| Errors | A session stopped with an error | On |
These follow you to your other devices over iCloud.
Nothing is sent for the session you’re looking at. Banner style and sounds are in System Settings › Notifications › Sesh.
Answer from the notification
- Approval notifications have Allow and Don’t Allow.
- Finished-turn notifications show the start of the reply.
- Click a notification to open its session.
A notification goes away by itself once it no longer applies, like when you answer on another device.

On your Mac
Sesh opens at login, with no window, and stays in the menu bar after you close its window. That’s what keeps notifications coming. Both are in Settings › General: Open at login and Show Sesh in the menu bar.
The menu bar icon shows how many sessions need you. Click it for Needs You, Working and Recent, with Allow and Don’t Allow in place.
On iPhone and iPad
Notifications arrive even when Sesh is closed. There’s nothing to set up. Your machines send them through Sesh’s push service, encrypted so that only your device can read them. They never contain what the agent wrote.
Allow from the lock screen asks you to unlock first. The app icon’s badge counts the sessions that need you.
Good to know
- Notifications that arrive while Sesh is closed say which session needs you, but not what the agent asked. Open the session to see it.
- On the Mac, Sesh sends its own notifications while it’s running. Leave Open at login on so it always is.
