Sesh on iPhone and iPad
Every session on every machine, in your pocket, with approvals right on the lock screen.
Sesh on iPhone and iPad does everything the Mac does with a session: chat, approvals, Changes, terminals and dev servers. It doesn’t run agents itself. It connects to your Mac and your other machines, so nothing that matters lives on the phone.
To connect it the first time, see Pair an iPhone or iPad.
Your machines come along
Once your phone is connected, the machines you added on your Mac show up on it by themselves, through iCloud. You don’t add each one again.
Your theme, notification choices and New Session defaults follow you over iCloud too.
Answer from anywhere

- From the lock screen. Approval notifications have Allow and Don’t Allow. Allow asks you to unlock first.
- From the list. Sessions waiting on you sit in Needs You at the top. The app icon’s badge counts them.
- While it works. Type your next message any time. It waits and goes out when the agent finishes.
Notifications arrive even when Sesh is closed. See Notifications.
Find your way around
- On iPhone, the session list comes first. Tap a session to open it.
- On iPad, the sidebar and the session sit side by side, like on the Mac.
- Swipe a session to archive it, or the other way to pin it. Long-press for the full menu.
- A session’s toolbar has Changes, Terminal, the globe for dev servers, and ⋯ for everything else.
- Settings is the gear in the sidebar.
Start a session
- Tap New Session, the square-and-pencil button.
- Pick the project, then type the task.
- Open Options to choose the machine, the agent, New branch and Autonomous.
- Tap Start.
Type @ in the task to mention a file in the project.
Terminals
The session’s terminal opens as a sheet on iPhone. Pull it halfway and the chat stays usable above it. On iPad it opens as a split under the chat.
Keys for Esc, Tab, Ctrl and the arrows sit above the keyboard. See Terminals.
With a keyboard
On iPad with a hardware keyboard, the Mac’s menus and shortcuts work: New Session, the Terminal menu, the command palette and moving between sessions. Return sends a message and ⇧↩ adds a line. See Keyboard shortcuts.
Attachments and dictation
- Paste an image into the message box, or tap the paperclip for Photo Library or Files.
- Dictation runs on the device. Nothing you say leaves it.
Dev servers
The globe opens a session’s dev server inside Sesh. A server on another machine is forwarded to the phone, and only answers while Sesh is in front, which is why it opens in Sesh rather than Safari. Open in Browser is still in the page’s toolbar. See Dev servers.
Good to know
- There are no widgets, Live Activities or Shortcuts yet.
- Open In an editor is Mac only.
- On iPhone and iPad, agents from the ACP Registry show their initial instead of their icon.
